Rob Moy Memorial Poker Run | October 23 | 8:00 am,The Scottsdale Healthcare Annual Rob Moy Memorial Poker Run is back and better than ever! Bring your motorcycle, your family and friends and join us for this fun and exciting event on Saturday, October 23, 2010; This year’s run features a 215 mile scenic ride through some of the most beautiful scenery Arizona has to offer. Proceeds from the poker run will benefit the Gift of Life Lodging program for cancer patients. Presented by Scottsdale Healthcare Foundation, the poker run honors the late Rob Moy, an avid biker and 14-year Scottsdale Healthcare employee. The Scottsdale Healthcare Rob Moy Memorial Poker Run begins Oct. 23 at 8 a.m. at Go AZ Motorcycles in Scottsdale and ends at San Tan Flats in Queen Creek. Along the route, motorcyclists will collect a playing card at each of the five stops. The best poker hand wins a big-screen television. Winner of the Lucky Hand Draw will win a new motorcycle courtesy of Go AZ Motorcycles worth $20,000.;

Cholesterol and Body Composition | August 10 | 8:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.,The cholesterol includes the total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, triglycerides and ratio. Participants must fast for at least 10 hours prior; water is ok to drink. Results are obtained in about 6 minutes & then reviewed with each patient. The body composition is a bio-impedance measurement of weight, body mass index, fat percentage, fat mass pounds, fat free mass pounds & hydration status. PEOPLE WITH A PACEMAKER &/OR ANY OTHER ELECTRICAL DEVICE CANNOT DO THE BODY COMPOSITION. Participants must pay the full $35.00 even if they only want one test done. Food For Life Cooking Class | August 11 | 6:00 pm-8:00 pm,Topic: Veggies Morning, Noon, and Night. Vegan cooking class taught by Cancer Project Chef Jason Wyrick and dietitian, Terri Taylor. Lecture, cooking demonstrations and sampling of foods; topics include low fat, high fiber, meat, dairy alternatives and phytochemicals to incorpoprate into eating habits to reduce cancer risk. Class DVD and recipes are revised from previous "Food for Life" class series. New recipes are demonstrated each class; the recipes aren't being repeated. Loaner books will be available to use during the class, or they can be purchased at Tina's treasures in the Virginia G. Piper Cancer Center or online from the Cancer Project at www.cancerproject.org.
